Search Federal Bureau of Prisons Releases

To find someone released from the Federal Bureau of Prisons after a Kenedy County-related federal case, search the national BOP system rather than a county roster. No federal prison was found in Kenedy County. The locator can show a federal release date and a released status, but that statement applies only to BOP custody. It does not rule out state, local, immigration, or pretrial custody, and it does not end federal supervision. Match the register number, save the exact result, and consult the federal court record when the legal outcome matters.

Federal Release Scope Near Kenedy

The Bureau of Prisons runs the federal sentenced-prison system. It is not the Kenedy Sheriff, Kleberg jail, U.S. Marshals Service, or ICE. A Kenedy arrest stays outside BOP unless a federal prosecution and sentence, federal designation, or later federal custody puts the person into that system.

No BOP institution was verified within Kenedy County. Do not assign a nearby South Texas federal facility based on distance. The correct institution is the one shown in the BOP record. Before federal designation, the Marshals Service may move a person among local, state, or contract beds, so a county-roster disappearance can mean movement rather than release.

Federal Release Locator Fields

The federal result is concise, so each field carries a specific limit.

FieldWhat it establishes
NameThe identity shown by BOP; confirm with a register number.
Register numberThe main federal prison identifier for the result and follow-up.
Age, race, and sexMatching aids, not proof by themselves.
LocationThe current BOP institution or a status such as RELEASED.
Release dateThe recorded federal prison release event.
UNKNOWNBOP has not determined the release term shown by the locator.

A location of RELEASED means the person is no longer in BOP custody. It does not identify the current street location, resolve another sovereign’s hold, or show whether federal supervised release remains.

Read Federal Release Status Precisely

“Released” and “not in BOP custody” have a narrow federal meaning. The person may be in a state prison, county jail, ICE detention, or another authority’s control. A transfer between BOP institutions is not release. Movement from Marshals custody into BOP is also continued custody.

Federal supervised release is a court-imposed period in the community after prison and is separate from the BOP confinement status. The locator’s release date does not state that every obligation ended. Consult the judgment and probation records available through the federal court process for the supervision term and later modification.

When the result is UNKNOWN, do not turn it into an estimate. Use the sentence, applicable credit, BOP records, and court action. A projected or anticipated date can change and is not the same as an event already recorded.

USMS Versus Federal Prison Release

The U.S. Marshals Service manages federal pretrial and court-ordered prisoners until acquittal, release, or delivery after conviction. It owns no prisons and frequently uses contract beds. There is no public USMS released-person locator comparable to BOP’s tool.

For a recent federal defendant who never entered BOP, use the federal district-court docket and order first. Ask USMS only for status it can lawfully provide. The agency says it generally does not release personal histories, prisoner photographs, or arrival and departure times. FOIA exists, but exemptions and privacy limits apply.

A person absent from a Kleberg roster might have moved within the Marshals network. Without a release order and custodian confirmation, do not report that absence as freedom.

Request Federal Release Records

Start with the register number, exact name, date of birth, and federal case number. The BOP locator establishes the public status and date available in the database. The federal court docket supplies the judgment, sentence, and release-related orders. BOP’s formal records process or FOIA can address agency records not exposed online, subject to exemptions.

Keep the request tied to a named record and fields. Ask for the release date, release destination or transfer status when releasable, and the institution responsible for the event. Do not promise a federal booking photograph. BOP’s locator is a status source, not a mugshot database, and USMS generally does not release prisoner photos.

For a pre-1982 federal record, use National Archives research as BOP directs. Cite the search date because the live database is updated and a location can change.

Federal Kenedy County Geography

No federal prison was found in Kenedy County. The absence of a local institution does not exclude a federal case or federal hold. A person can be arrested locally, held in a contract bed, moved by the Marshals Service, and later designated to a BOP institution far from South Texas.

The word Kenedy also creates a separate state-prison trap: TDCJ’s Connally Unit uses the City of Kenedy but lies in Karnes County. That unit is neither in Kenedy County nor part of BOP. Facility names, county fields, and sovereign agency must all match before a record is connected to the person.

Federal Kenedy Three-Record Chain

For a Kenedy-origin event, the Sheriff can identify the initial arrest and delivery destination. Kleberg can provide a local booking closure if it physically held the person. The Kenedy clerk supplies only state or county case records, so a truly federal prosecution requires the federal district-court docket. BOP then supplies the federal prison status and release date after designation.

This chain blocks a transfer error. A Kleberg book-out to USMS is not community release. USMS delivery into BOP is not release. A BOP RELEASED result ends BOP custody but does not exclude ICE, state, or local custody. Check the receiving agency named in the most recent transfer record.

After Federal Prison Release

Check the federal judgment for supervised release. If immigration custody is indicated, use ICE’s Online Detainee Locator System separately. If a state detainer appears, contact the state or county custodian and obtain its booking record. Each sovereign keeps its own event.

A person can be released by BOP and immediately taken into another agency’s control. Preserve both timestamps. Describe the event as release from BOP followed by transfer or new custody, not unrestricted community release. When no receiving record exists, state only what the federal source proves.

Federal Release Court Cross-Check

The BOP locator supplies a prison status and release date, while the federal court record supplies the legal sentence. Use the case number to obtain the judgment and later orders. A court order can affect the term, but the BOP event remains the source for when federal prison custody actually ended.

Do not substitute a Kenedy County clerk file for a federal docket. The local clerk may document the original local matter or a separate state case, but federal criminal proceedings belong to the federal court. If both exist, keep their cause numbers, custodians, and outcomes separate. A release in one case may coexist with a hold in the other.
